Youth Services

The Youth Services Department provides resources, programs, and services for children and teens from birth through age 18, as well as caregivers and educators. We offer a wide variety of programs, including storytimes, crafts, movies, teen advisory groups, and more. The department also collaborates with local schools through assemblies, class visits, and other educational outreach services.

Reading Rainforest

Plainfield Public Library’s Young People’s Room, the “Reading Rainforest,” is our gift to the children of Plainfield.  Featuring a rainforest mural, new computers, a media center, puppet theater and a special area for tweens, the space emphasizes today’s environmental issues while paying  tribute to the multiculturalism that is Plainfield.

Schools, Camps, etc. MUST call ahead to make arrangements for groups of more than 10 children.

Teachers

You can still request class visits while we’re closed. While we cannot host students and teachers at the library, a librarian can come to your class for an in-person visit. During the visit, students can sign-up for library cards and learn about our resources, especially our online resources available during the construction closure.  To schedule a class visit please fill out this form, or call us at 908-757-1111 ext 1200.
